eLearning Africa is an annual conference, which focuses on ICT for development, education and training in Africa. It is the most relevant and most comprehensive international Pan-African capacity-building event for all stakeholders engaged in ICT-enhanced education and training on the Continent. The first conference took place in 2006 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. eLearning Africa is organised in partnership with African governments, and a different country will serve as the venue each year. The 2nd conference took place in Nairobi in May 2007. With more than 1500 participants from 88 countries (2006: 832 attendees from 81 countries), eLearning Africa not only grew considerably in numbers, but was a truly African event, with more than 70 percent of the participants coming from the continent.

With more than 440 participants from around the world, the Russian event in the series of Online Educa international conferences was met with a positive response. The Online Educa Moscow conference took place from September 30 to October 3 at the President Hotel in the Russian capital. The conference attracted 352 delegates from Russia and the CIS countries and 92 participants from the EU, the USA, China and other countries. Conference attendees included experts from the business sector and the academic community, as well as education decision-makers and innovators. The event looked into the latest developments in technology-enhanced learning and gave a particular focus on regional issues within Russia and the CIS countries, such as languages, cultures and access to technology.

ICT Best Practices: From April 21 to 23, the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou hosted the second annual "Africa ICT Best Practice Forum" in cooperation with Microsoft. The event creates an efficient and effective platform for governments from across Africa to share experiences and demonstrate practical examples of successful technology solutions. It attracted about 320 delegates from 39 countries, including a large crowd of ministers and civil servants from all over the Continent. ICWE acted as the event organiser for Microsoft.

Call for Proposals: The Call for Proposals for Online Educa Berlin 2008 is open until April 30th. Suggestions for presentations, discussions and workshops can be submitted to ICWE via the event's website at www.online-educa.com. The eLearning Africa 2008 conference programme is now online. With more than 240 speakers from 51 countries, 4 plenary sessions, 66 sessions in 11 parallel conference strands, 48 demonstrations and best practice examples, 13 workshops and a number of exciting new features, the event will again be a landmark in pan-African capacity-building for ICT-enhanced education and training.eLearning Africa will take place from May 28th to 30th in Accra, Ghana. ICWE partners with MEDEA Awards: ICWE is partner of the recently launched MEDEA awards, which like to encourage innovation and good practice in the use of digital moving images and sound in education.
