Dr Michael Power (00.30), Prof. of Education and Technology at Laval University in Quebec took some time out of his schedule to come and talk to us about geomatics, augmented reality, and how the new breed of location based social technologies offer a fantastic opportunity for bringing learning to life outside the classroom.
‘Battle of the Bloggers’ has been a highlight of the conference for the past couple of years, an opportunity for a group of well-known figures in e-learning to robustly debate their ideas and perspectives in front of a live and on-line audience. We catch up with Ellen Wagner (09.40), Partner of Sage Road Solutions LLP, who was a panellist and find out what its all about.

In the Friday afternoon edition, we catch up with Sónia Hetzner (00.26) from the Institute for Innovation in Learning, University of Erlangen- Nürnberg, Germany, ahead of her presentation on Friday afternoon which explores e-learning applications for the older life-long learner. In particular, she tells us about how personal histories are being captured to be recreated in the plotlines and scenarios of video games.
Karyn Romeis (08.50) from Learning Anorak Ltd, UK, has been examining how the changing needs of business is resulting in new models for e-learning and training in the workplace, and how we, as employees, need to become more empowered and involved in directing and meeting our individual training needs.

First, we meet Professor Margarida Romero from ESADE Business School (00.49) who is presenting later on Friday as part of a session about the neurology of learning in a technical and collaborative context, and how ICT’s are affecting of the evolution of how we perceive the educational experience.
On Thursday afternoon, there was a session where a group of students from the Humboldt and Nelson Mandela schools in Berlin (10.15) came and spoke about their consumption of e-learning materials and shared their experiences – both beneficial and frustrating – as end users of technology and resources. We caught up with them after the session to discuss the changing relationship between student and teacher, the issue of technology support in schools and how the experience of getting to grips with ed-tech should be a two-way street.

In the second of Thursday’s casts, we talk to Julie Stoker (00.30) from Arsenal FC’s ‘Double Club’ about how football is bringing language teaching to a whole new and previously hard to reach audience, and we meet Dr Aric Sigman, (06.12) psychologist, author and critic of the overuse of technology in education.
