New Research Findings from Leading International Corporations
By Matt Lippincott, Corporate University Xchange
The Corporate University Xchange 8th Annual Global Benchmarking Study on Learning and Development is the most in-depth, pre-screened research of its kind. It provides benchmarks on more than 170 dimensions of corporate learning. There are currently over two hundred Fortune 1000 companies participating in the study, including UBS, General Motors, Conoco Phillips and AT&T. The study focuses on vital areas such as:
- Technology
- Leadership
- Measurement
- Aligning learning with business needs
- Governance and funding
- L&D roles and responsibilities
- Partnering and outsourcing
- Marketing
At OEB, Sue Todd will provide a special focus on the Leadership Development trends, best practices and case studies identified during research, which was conducted with some of the top global corporations in the world.
As part of this presentation, a special offer to participate in this study is being extended. Those who are able to register for the survey by September 30th can complete it by October 12th.
Completion of this unique study will guarantee you a free copy of the final written report, which will not be made available to anyone but participants. This 200-page study will include case studies from award-winning organisations.
Having access to the findings of this survey is one of the only ways you will be able to see how your work compares with that of other firms that are the same size as yours and within your industry.
The report will help all of the participants prepare a fact-based business case to support the changes they know are going to be important to delivering strategic value. This study can help you answer very important questions such as:
- Are we operating in the top quartile of performance, and if not, what gaps do we need to close?
- Are we keeping up with the dynamic changes that are taking place in learning and performance?
The information will be helpful in providing organisations with comprehensive, fact-based data for use in all of their critical decision-making.
“Those who have completed the survey, such as Xerox, told us the experience was ‘eye-opening’ and that it highlighted gaps in their strategic plans”, says Sue Todd.
Participants are screened and validated before being allowed access to the study, eliminating false entries and ensuring greater data integrity.

Findings from an ongoing leadership study, conducted in partnership with UBS, will also be discussed. This research focuses on development activities for executives, upper management and high potentials and looks at a full range of leadership development characteristics used by major international companies.
In addition to learning activities, the study also analyses cultural and organisational practices that foster development, including forecasting talent needs, succession planning, high-potential selection, measurement strategies and other strategies that impact the creation of the talent that will drive strategic growth forward. Other critical areas of focus include preparing leaders for the Gen Y workforce, governing leadership development, the impact of globalisation and diversity on leadership development and more.
