New Conference Formats at Online Educa Berlin
Bloggers’ Session: Free Your Mind
Since blogging entered the mainstream a couple of years ago, Online Educa Berlin has extended an annual welcome to some of the most popular bloggers in the fields of education and e-learning. In 2008, they will get their very own conference session entitled “The Battle of the Bloggers”. At the end of each conference day, blogger community members are invited to share their thoughts about the ongoing event and to look at its highlights and controversies. The session’s panel will include well-known bloggers from all over the world. The aim of this format is to enhance the benefit from their broad knowledge and sharp observations, which have always been a valuable inspiration for the conference organisers and participants, as well as the e-learning community as a whole. Join the Bloggers’ Session at OEB - don’t only track the buzz, help create it!
Expert Sessions: Go into Detail
Expert Sessions represent a mix of presentations and panel discussions on specific topics, led by a panel of recognised masters-of-the-art. Every session features one topic in detail, for example accreditation, standardisation, quality control or return-on-investment. This format is designed to enable participants to interact on a specific topic with a number of people with expertise in that specific area. The confinement to a single subject offers the chance not only to go into great detail but also to learn more about the latest developments and most advanced approaches that extend beyond the mainstream.
Soapbox Sessions: Get Involved
Online Educa Berlin 2008 will feature several discussion and debate opportunities to involve participants actively in “Soapbox Sessions”, where people with a strong opinion on an issue are invited to put forward their point of view to the audience. This is intended to engender an open discussion among experts and practitioners on one of the overriding conference themes. The speaking time will be limited to pressure presenters to cut to the chase. Here, too, the concept is to foster interaction and exchange, as well as to highlight various approaches to learning and technology and the controversies surrounding their reciprocal interaction.
