A Vision for Tomorrow’s Learners: MEDEA Awards 2008
The ubiquity of new media is shaping the mindset of a whole generation of learners, but most educational institutions have yet to adapt to thoseneeds and preferences. While interest in the field is high, hands-on practices and elaborated concepts are often still in their infancy.

The aim of the MEDEA Awards is to encourage innovation and good practice in the use of media in education. With the pedagogical vision of an educational environment that reflects the media-rich world today’s learners live in, the new competition honours exceptional efforts taken in the production and pedagogical design of audio-visual learning resources.
The MEDEA Awards are open to anyone working with or in European education at all levels. Professionals and amateurs alike such as producers, teachers, academics, support staff and students are welcome to participate. The closing date for submissions is September 30th, 2008.
As a special reward for the most outstanding submissions, the top five finalists will be invited to the award ceremony in Berlin. Each of the five finalists will have the chance to win the first MEDEA Award, with the main prize being the award itself and hardware to the value of € 6,000.
The MEDEA Awards ceremony will be held December 4th, 2008, at Online Educa Berlin. A special parallel session featuring the five finalists will be dedicated to the use of video in education and used to present and discuss the award-winning application.
